Here's what I don't understand:

If there are so many posts on tumblr every day, why do the same pictures keep coming up over and over?:

It being saddy day (Saturday), there is nought on the telly (what we used to call the boob tube)

Yeah, TVs used to have a tube (vacuum tube made of glass) for the screen.
That was before lcd and led screens and plasma displays
My father used to repair tube-type tvs and radios, before he got on at Standard Oil as a pipefitter.
Back then not that many people had tvs and radios. You couldn't make a living at repairing them, due to so few of them in "the field."
