How did the number 12 get to have such significance?
It's really extremely simple. There are 12 months to the year. It's been that way since way before the Bible was written.
There are 29. some-odd days to the moon's cycle. To round it off to 30, 12 times 30 gives you 360 days. So they had to add a day to some months to make it 365 for the number of days in a year (the time it takes the earth to make one full orbit of the sun.
Yes, God made it that way.
And the seven days in a week correlates to the four phases of the moon.
